Cable cross-section for CEE plugs and sockets: terminal ranges by rating
Short answer: Size the cable for the load current, cable length and installation method under your local wiring rules, then check that the conductor size falls within the terminal range of the plug, connector or socket. In the Bemis range the terminal ranges are 1–10 mm² at 16 A, 2.5–10 mm² at 32 A, 6–25 mm² at 63 A and 16–70 mm² at 125 A, depending on the model.
| Rated current | Terminal ranges in the Bemis range | Products with this data |
|---|---|---|
| 16 A | 1–2.5 mm² · 1.5–4 mm² · 4–10 mm² | 162 |
| 32 A | 2.5–6 mm² · 2.5–10 mm² · 4–10 mm² | 188 |
| 63 A | 6–16 mm² · 6–25 mm² | 206 |
| 125 A | 16–50 mm² · 25–70 mm² | 81 |
Frequently asked questions
Where do I find the terminal range of a specific product?
On each Bemis product page under “Connectable cable cross-section” and in its datasheet.
Does the terminal range tell me which cable to use?
No. It only shows which conductor sizes the terminals accept. The cable is chosen for the load current, length and installation conditions under local rules.
Why do two 16 A plugs have different ranges?
Terminal and cable-entry sizes differ between models and series, so check the range of the exact product code.
